I am very pleased to be the Librarian and Arts teacher at Pineville Elementary.  I see the students for a 45 minute period once for Library and once for Art each week.  The students may come to the library in the morning from 7:05 to 7:30 a.m. with a pass from their teacher.  

Following are the Library and Arts rules and procedures.

Pineville Elementary Keys

 

  1. Follow instructions the first time they are given.

  2. Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

  3. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak or leave your seat.

  4. Be prepared for class and always do your best.

  5. Tell the truth at all times.

 

General Procedures

 

  1. Freeze and listen when an announcement or alert is made over the intercom.

  2. Follow instructions quickly and quietly.

  3. Use your best manners: please, thank you.

  4. Speak in complete sentences.

  5. Repeat a phrase properly when corrected.

  6. If you have a question or need help, ask.

  7. You may get a Kleenex if you need one.

  8. You may get a pencil if your lead breaks.

  9. Always walk.

  10. Follow the Pineville Elementary Keys.

  11. Look and listen for the Quiet Sign/Chimes.

  12. Treat Library books and supplies carefully.

  13. Push your chair in at an angle when you leave your seat.

  14. Line up in a single, silent, straight line.

 

 

Library Procedures

 

  1. Enter the Library quietly.

  2. Sit in your assigned seat.

  3. Read your book, a magazine, or complete a library assignment.

  4. Wait your turn for activities.

  5. Return books to their proper place.

  6. Listen attentively to readings.

  7. Be respectful of others.

 

 

 

Book Check In and Out Procedures

 

  1. Bring your books and line up behind the “X”.

  2. When directed to do so, stand in front of the owl poster and scan the circulation barcode.

  3. Put books on the Yellow cart – spine showing.

  4. Select a shelf marker to use while searching for books.

  5. Choose books within your AR Reading Range until you have reached your AR Point and Percentage goals.

  6. Return the shelf marker and line up behind the “X”.

  7. When directed to do so, stand in front of the owl poster.

  8. Give Mrs. Tagge your call number, and after the OK, scan the circulation barcode.

  9. Return to your seat and work or read quietly

 

Book Handling Checklist

  1. Make sure your hands are clean.

  2. No eating or drinking while reading a book.

  3. Never mark in a book.

  4. Use a bookmark to save your place.

  5. Put the book in a safe place when you are not reading it.

  6. Treat books and magazines kindly and carefully.

 

Art Procedures

 

  1. Enter the room quietly.

  2. Sit in your assigned seat or move to the project area.

  3. Wait for directions before touching supplies.

  4. Be proud of your work and do your best.

  5. Clean up your area before leaving.
